Is Your Accountancy Website User-Friendly?
Posted by Marketing Man in Marketing for Accountants,Online Marketing,SEO,Website Design | September 2, 2012Your website is crucial to the success of your online marketing campaign, and offline too as often prospective customers seeing offline advertisements will check out your website before making contact. Since it obviously plays such an important role in the growth of your business it is vital that you are sure that your website is easy to use.
A frustrating, poorly designed or poorly organised website can be disastrous for an accountancy firm seeking to grow it’s business through online marketing. Here are some simple steps to ensure your accountancy website is user-friendly.
Is Your Website Easy To Navigate?
The navigation of your website should be constant throughout the site, don’t go changing the position of the main navigation links depending on which page the visitor is on, this will quickly lead to frustration and abandonment of your website.
Make sure all of the key pages are clearly displayed in your navigation, don’t make people search for key information like contact details.
Does Your Website Make It Easy To Contact You?
For a lot of accountancy firms the primary goal of the website is to get visitors to make contact about their accountancy services. It is therefore extremely baffling that there are many websites out there that make it very difficult to make contact. I have been on some accountancy websites where you literally had to click through 2 or 3 links before finding any sort of contact information. This is crazy! Make is easy to contact you, have contact information on every single page of your site.
Some people do not like picking up the phone for an initial contact and would much prefer to fill in a contact form, so give them that option.
Broken links?
There is nothing more annoying for a visitor to your website than clicking on a link to find out that it’s not working. This helps to gives the user the impression that the site is poorly maintained or neglected. Try to make sure you monitor your internal links regularly to check they are working properly and are pointing to the correct page/information.
Search Bar
If you have quite a lot of content on your website then featuring a search bar on is a great way to increase the length of time people will spend on your site and increase the chances that they will find what they are looking for. If someone visits your site and is looking for something specific, all they have to do is a quick search and they should get content that matches their query.
There is an analytics side to featuring a search bar as well and this can be used as a guide for future content. There are various ways that you can actually track the searches that are made on your site which will give you a better understanding of what your website visitors are interested in, this will allow you to tailor future content to match the needs of your audience.
Have You Made It Easy To Share The Site?
Make sure that your website has a button that lets visitors tell their friends about you though Twitter, Facebook, Digg and other popular networking sites.
Is Your Website Easy To Find?
Having a website that does not show up on Google’s first page is like opening a shop in a deserted town. Make sure that every web page on your site is optimised for no more than two or three keyword phrases. For example, if you offer accountancy services in Enfield, Middlesex, your homepage might be optimized for “Accountant,” “Enfield” and “Middlesex”.
Is It Easy To Stay Updated?
Make it easy for visitors to sign up for an email newsletter so that they can stay on top of new developments with your company and new services on offer.
